GREENVILLE, SC– Monica Dedaj and Rosie Garcia Gross won the doubles title in fourth flight on Saturday day two of the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic. The Yellow Jackets played one doubles and one singles round, amassing two doubles wins and four singles wins.
The final doubles round opened the day with Dedaj and Garcia Gross battling for a title. The Jackets rolled to an 8-1 triumph against Clemson’s Jenna Thompson and Alexandra Anttila. in consolation action, Ruth March and Alejandra Cruz picked up an 8-4 win over Vanderbilt’s Amy Stevens and Sonya Macavei.
Georgia Tech won four singles games in the lone round of play. Dedaj went into the eighth flight championship game, beating Mississippi State’s Dhorani Nirshan 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals. She will face North Carolina’s Sophia Patel in the title match at 10:30 a.m. Sunday
Also collecting profits for the jackets, Mahak Jain, Alejandra Cruz and Kate Sharabura were all victorious in the consolation game. Jain and Cruz fought their opponents in three sets, defeating Holly Staff (Vanderbilt) and Madeline Atway (Ohio State) respectively. Sharabura rounded out Tech’s victories on the day, defeating Mississippi State’s Madelyn Bemisderfer 6-4, 7-6 (2).
The game ends on Sunday with the final singles round starting at 9:00 am
