New updates will be added at the end of this story…….
Original story (published August 12, 2022) follows:
Many NFL fans have had some issues with the app. The most commonly reported are related to unplayed games, poor performance, and the app not recognizing the NFL+ subscription.
NFL app not playing or playing wrong games
Once they open the app and try to watch an NFL game, they are either taken to another game or the stream doesn’t start at all.
It doesn’t seem to be limited to a specific game as users have tried to stream several different games but faced the same issue.
Not a good first night. Missed the entire first half now having replay issues. Half hearted app but worked fine and took my money
@NFLPlusGO @NFLplusofficial Your app isn’t working properly, I want to see the Ravens and Titans but it keeps throwing me at the Patriots and Giants.
NFL+ subscription not recognized
Whenever a user taps on a game to watch, they receive an error message stating that you need a TV provider account to watch games.
This basically defeats the purpose of paying for the NFL+ subscription as users can then just watch the game straight through the TV.
I spent the whole game trying to get NFL+ to work. I keep getting an error saying we need a TV provider. That’s not how it was advertised. Your tech support team seems to have checked out after I submitted the request. Your answer is embarrassing.
Why doesn’t @NFL Plus let me watch games even with a subscription? For example, what was the point of subscribing if I need to link my TV provider anyway. Trash Ass App
Slow streaming and slow app performance
The overall performance of the NFL app has let many users down with the constant issues like crashing, not opening, switching between games, and lots of long pauses with nothing but the field in the background.
Hey @nfl, what’s up with your app transfer? Soooo many very long breaks with absolutely nothing but the field in the background.
For a sport so popular in the US, the NFL needs to improve their app significantly. In its current state, fans aren’t having the best experience.
There is no official confirmation of any of these issues from the NFL team yet. In the meantime, there’s a possible workaround for NFL+ subscribers on the web version.
In any case, we’ll be keeping an eye on the situation and will post an update if we come across any further developments regarding these NFL app issues.
Update 1 (15 Aug)
6:05 p.m. (ACTUAL): The NFL app recently bagged a new update on iOS with version 57.0.1. It includes a fix for crash issues and user interface improvements. However, no fixes for streaming issues are mentioned.
