Torrington native Duncan “Dick” Ebersol changed the face of television and was credited as the driving force behind programs like Saturday Night Live and Sunday Night Football. Ebersol, while President of NBC Sports, acquired rights for the network to be the first to host the World Series, Super Bowl, NBA Finals and Summer Olympics in the same year.
Ebersol recently immortalized his four-decade television career with the release of his autobiography, From Saturday Night to Sunday Night: My Forty Years of Laughter, Tears, and Touchdowns in TV. The book, which was released last week, details Ebersol’s career as he created a media empire that has lasted to this day. Ebersol’s Sunday Night Football still remains the number one primetime series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
