Family Day is Monday 20th February and many cultural sites, attractions and shops will operate on a different schedule or close altogether.

It is a provincial holiday for Ontario, not Quebec or at the federal level.

To ensure you are prepared, here is a list of opening and closing times during the bank holidays.

Shopping

  • The CF Rideau Center is open from 10am to 6pm

  • The Tanger Outlets are open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m

  • Bayshore Shopping Centre, Billings Bridge Shopping Centre, Carlingwood Shopping Centre, St Laurent Shopping Center and Place d’OrlĂ©ans are all closed.

  • LCBO shops and beer shops will be closed.

  • Some Loblaws grocery stores will be open, for example 64 Isabella St. and 363 Rideau St. Hours of operation may be slightly different than normal.

  • All Food Basics grocery stores in Ottawa will be closed. The Smiths Falls and Brockville locations are open.

  • All of Farm Boy’s grocery stores are closed, with the exception of the Rideau Center location.

  • Whole Foods at Lansdowne Park will be open.

Travel

  • No free parking on family day. All City of Ottawa parking rules and restrictions apply.

  • OC Transpo will operate on a normal weekday timetable.

  • Route 301 to the Bayshore and Carlingowod shopping centers is not operated.

  • Para Transpo cancels regular trips during such holidays. The reservation hotline is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the cancellation hotline from 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m

  • OC Transpo’s Rideau Center Customer Service Center will be open. All other customer service centers are closed.

  • Lost property from OC Transpo at Heartwood House will be closed.

City Services

  • 311 only takes urgent calls.

  • There is no rubbish collection at the roadside. This is delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

  • The collection containers for apartment buildings are collected on the regular specified days. Multi-home recycling bins and green bins will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

  • The Trail Road Waste Disposal is open from 9am to 5pm

  • All municipal day care centers will be closed.

All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed, but their online programs will continue.

healthcare

  • OPH’s vaccine booking line is closing.

  • The site program office and monitored consumer services at 179 Clarence St. will be closed. The site mobile truck will operate from 5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m

  • The Sexual Health Clinic and Satellite Clinics will be closed.

  • The health information center OPH remains closed.

  • OPH dental clinics will be closed.

museums and galleries

  • The natural, scientific, agricultural, aviation and history museums are open. Some have special programs.

  • The Canadian War Museum closes.

  • The National Gallery of Canada is open from 10am to 5pm

  • The Ottawa Art Gallery remains closed.

  • Most city art centers and museums will be closed.

ice rinks

  • The Ice Rink of Dreams is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m

  • Lansdowne Park Ice Rink is open from 7am to 11pm

  • Ben Franklin Place Ice Rink is open from 9am to 11pm

  • The Jim Tubman Chevrolet Rink is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

All ice rink opening times are weather dependent.
