(BPRW) Announcing the inaugural Black Tech Gala fundraising and awards ceremony
Encouraging and showcasing Black professionals and students in technology careers
(Black PR Wire) ATLANTA, GEORGIA The Power of Technology Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is pleased to announce the inaugural Black Tech Gala to be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. EST at the Hyatt Regency Villa Christina – Atlanta Perimeter takes place . This immersive formal black tie tech affair features an elegant night of live entertainment, food, dancing, fundraisers and an awards ceremony for those with initiatives to support the black tech community.
In the US technology sector, 62% of careers are filled by white Americans. Black Americans hold just 7% of tech careers, Latinx Americans 8%, and Asian Americans 20%, according to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for scholarships, raise awareness for high-tech careers, and promote economic development for local and global underserved communities.
The high-tech sector has become a major source of economic growth that drives the US economy. As an innovation industry, the high-tech sector has impacted the way everyone communicates and accesses information, sells products and services, and addresses critical societal issues. A major problem in this high-growth segment is the lack of representation of women and minorities in tech roles. Global technology pioneers and entrepreneurs Jamila Brown and Cameron Hairston founded the Power of Technology Foundation Inc to help solve these critical problems. Brown and Hairston’s goal is to provide advice and education to the community while helping to increase the participation of women and minorities in the fast-growing field of technology.
“The statistics on women and minorities in technology are shockingly low, and with technology being the future, it’s more important than ever to get involved in these high-paying careers,” Brown says. “The development of a high-tech workforce has long been a concern; It is an important growth sector that requires workers with specific skills. It is often assumed that tech talent is in short supply among US workers.” “This is proof that the time has come for women and minorities to up their skills and seek quality technology education and personal development,” says Hairston.
The Black Tech Gala is the premier fundraiser for the Power of Technology Foundation and all contributions are 100% tax deductible. Limited tickets, sponsorships and tables are available for corporations, small businesses, entrepreneurs, influencers and local communities at www.blacktechgala.com.
